James heard his son Liam screaming from the attic. Without hesitation he rushed upstairs. No one had been in the attic for quite some time. After calming the boy down who was totally in shock,
James went upstairs to see what was in the attic’s closet. When reaching the top of the stairs, James turned pale. This was no ordinary nest at all. This is much more serious than he thought…..
Calming down son
James was more focused on his son Liam because he was freaking out about the whole situation happening here. He has never seen his son in this state, so James first tries to calm him down before going to the attic.
Liam was still terrified because James couldn’t fully calm the boy down. While still weeping, Liam points to the closet where he discovered the nest. James already expected that there would be a nest because the previous owner had already mentioned how frequently they struggled with that. However, this hornet’s nest turned out to be different from any others.
Hearing noises
James already heard noises coming from the closet in the attic. He has seen multiple nests in the past, but he has never heard it this loud. It is also making this weird noise, like a car engine which was trying to start. Is it even a hornet’s nest at all, James thought?
James opens the closet. He Instantly turns pale from what he sees. It is a very big one, and James got chills over his entire body. He felt scared by this huge but really huge hornet’s nest. This isn’t normal at all.
Attacking
James moved closer but quickly regretted it after being swarmed by dozens of hornets, maybe even hundreds, to his perception. They were all aggressive, and some stung James, which was very painful. He had to get away as fast as possible.
Liam claimed they were protecting something in that giant nest of theirs. James was afraid to move closer, but he saw from a distance that his son might be right. They were protecting something, but what they were protecting, he did not know.
Calling for backup
James knew that this type of hornet’s nest couldn’t be dealt with by himself, so he searched on the internet for experts in the area of hornets. He found one nearby and called him. James explained the whole situation, and the expert didn’t take long to arrive at James’ home.
James gives the expert, Mark, a detailed explanation of the situation as he arrives. Mark chuckles and believes he can handle it on his own. In the years he has worked for insect control, he has performed this type of action hundreds of times.
To the attic
Mark can already hear the wasps on the second floor as he makes his way to the attic. Normally they wouldn’t be this loud, but he wasn’t scared just by their sound. Mark went to the kitchen, and it took time for him to calm down. James looked at him, and he could clearly see the fear in his eyes.
This confident man turned into a frightened little boy. What has happened in the attic? Mark explained that the hornet’s nest isn’t like any others. In all his years of working in insect control, he has never encountered this type of hornet’s nest.
The nest
He turned to James and said He Could do nothing at the moment. The best thing is to wait until winter… James tries to convince Mark that he needs to get rid of the hornet’s nest now. They could hear their noises of them during their sleep. It needs to be removed, James said. However, Mark still refuses to go back to the attic.
Mark claims that the hornets guard something, just as James and his son Liam already suspected. It must be something big because Mark has never seen this big nest before, and besides this, they act aggressively when you come close. What can it be?
Final advice
James noticed that Mark was too terrified to return to the attic. Unfortunately, he could not convince him to return to the attic and resolve the entire issue. Mark drives off after advising waiting until winter. James felt powerless…
James knew that a significant thing was taking place, and he had little faith in the evolving circumstances inside his attic. He, therefore, decides to barricade the attic to prevent the hornets from entering downstairs.
Situation getting worse
The situation was getting worse by the day. The noise started first, the hornets were just very loud, and in the end, the whole family was sleeping in the living room because they couldn’t sleep in their bedroom due to the loud noises of the nest.
Eventually, hornets even made their way downstairs. James had to act now. He couldn’t wait until winter. James contacted other insect control companies, but each time he did, he was informed that there was nothing they could do but wait until winter.
Taking matters into own hands
But James and his family really couldn’t wait that long, so James decided to take matters into his own hands. James knew he needed to take precautions to avoid getting hurt if he went into the attic. He went to the store to defend himself against those aggressive hornets and bought whatever he could find. He knew that this was necessary.
His wife, Emma, thought it was a bad idea to return to the attic. She claimed that only professionals could handle this situation. James was aware of this, but their home’s current state due to the hornet’s nest was unlivable. He had to do something…
Ignoring Emma
James ignored Emma, his wife. He went upstairs and made an effort to remove the attic’s barricade. He had been strengthening the barrier daily in recent days to stop hornets from coming downstairs. After a while, he cleared the barricade.
James slowly moved up to the attic after removing the barricade. He noticed that since he had last visited, the situation had dramatically worsened. The hornets’ nest has increased in size by five or even eight times. He now understands why these experts were terrified.
Adrenaline kick
James felt the adrenaline pumping through his veins when he slowly came closer to the nest. He planned to grab the nest and throw it away from the window. He was almost near the hornets until…
James was brutally attacked again by hundreds of hornets. He experienced pain throughout his entire body and was helpless to stop it. He then runs back to the attic’s opening, and instead of walking down the stairs, he immediately jumps to the first floor. Emma runs to her husband, hoping to get any sound out of him….
The fall from the attic
James lies on the floor. His head is pounding, and his whole body hurts. He looks up andsees Emma’s worried look on her face. “I have to try again,” James says, closing his eyes again. Emma calls Liam, and together they lift him onto the couch. He wakes up after a few minutes. “What happened?” he says.
“Don’t you remember?” Emma asked. “You tried to remove the hornets’ nest but got attacked.” James looked at Emma in disbelief. He tried to remember but couldn’t. He had a concussion, so his memory was all over the place. He felt a sharp pain in his head and had to rest. “What are we going to do….” Emma sighs.
Liam’s turn
Liam looked at his dad. He knew he couldn’t go up the attic again anytime soon. So he decided he had to take matters into his own hands. There was something in this nest, and he had to see what it was. But if his dad couldn’t do it, could he?
He needed to think of a plan. Clearly, his dad’s plan didn’t work, so he needed his own. He could use his father’s suit, but that was about it. So he searched online and saw a video about beekeepers using smoke. He wondered if he could use the same smoke on the hornets. But where would he buy this special smoke?
His secret plan
Liam had to keep his plan a secret. He knew his mother would never approve if she found out. The doctor came by the other day and told his father to stay in bed for the next few days. So Lian felt he was the man of the house now, so it was his responsibility. As dangerous as it was.
He had to pick the right moment. Liam had all the gear he needed but didn’t want his mother to be home. If she noticed something, his plan would be compromised. He had to smoke out the hornets to get to their nest. This was the only way to get a good look at the nest without being stung.
Now is the time
Adrenaline was pumping through Liam’s body. He had never done anything this dangerous before. His mother left the house to go to the market, so he had to act quickly. This may be the only chance he has. He puts on the suit and walks to the attic stairs. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Dad, I can explain,” Liam said. “Don’t worry, son. You got this. I see you have a smoker, so you must be smarter than me,” James laughed and returned to his bed. “Ok, Liam, you got this,” he mumbled as he took his first steps up the stairs.
Action
Liam popped his head through the hatch and inspected the room. There were a lot more hornets than he thought there would be. Did he make the right decision? He checked his smoker and closed his eyes. Now or never, he thinks. He lifts the smoker through the hatch and starts smoking, but it doesn’t go as planned.
The hornets became even more aggressive. They felt threatened, and the sound of their wings got even louder. Liam’s heart was racing in his chest as he kept on smoking. He saw the hornets come out of their hive and fly like crazy. Then, all of a sudden, something strange happened.
Mistakes
The sound of their wings got quieter, and the hornets became calmer. The attic was now almost filled with smoke. Liam put the smoker down next to him and climbed up the attic. The sound of the hornets was almost gone, but he couldn’t see a thing through the smoke. So he felt for a little window and cracked it open. That was his first mistake.
Liam took a few steps forward. His confidence had returned, and he thought he knew exactly what to do. The Hornets weren’t dead. He saw a few of them moving. They were just passed out. He walked toward the nest at a slow pace. He had left the smoker near the hatch of the attic. That was his second mistake.
Looking at the nest
As the smoke cleared, Liam could finally see the nest in its full glory. He stood there for a scond, taking everything in. He understood why no one wanted to help them. This wasn’t a normal hornet’s nest. This was something bigger. Liam had brought kitchen thongs with him and started poking in the hornet’s nest.
The nest was as big as a car tire. Liam couldn’t believe what he was seeing. He had never seen anything like this before. It looked beautiful! All the little holes and tunnels. The closer he was to the center of the nest, the more hornets he saw. It looked like they were all pilled up on each other, concealing whatever was in the middle.
This can’t be good
Liam was so focussed on the nest and its beauty that he didn’t notice the sound of the hornets getting louder again. The smoke had almost entirely faded through the window, and the hornets were waking up again. He saw something as he poked at the nest—a hornet. Flying. “Oh no…” Liam thinks. “This can’t be good.”
Liam looked behind him and got scared for his life. All the hornets had woken up and were flying around like crazy. Liam fell to the ground and spotted his smoker on the other side of the room. He had to get to it before it was too late. He started crawling and had almost reached the smoker when…
No more mistakes
He dived to the smoker and grabbed it just in time. He closed the window and started smoking. It took a few minutes, but the hornets calmed down again. This time he took the smoker with him.
His sight was blurry from the smoke, but he had to finish what he had started. He opened the window and grabbed the nest without hesitation. He threw the nest out the window before more hornets could sting him. He heard the nest shatter on the ground. He kept the window open and went outside.
A disapointed mother
James and Liam walked to the driveway and saw Emma standing beside the nest with a terrified look. The nest had almost hit her as it fell from the attic window. She couldn’t believe Liam had done this without her permission. She started yelling at him and her husband but suddenly stopped.
“What is that?” Emma said as she pointed to the nest. She noticed something in the middle. Something was sticking out of it. James pushed parts of the nest off it, and when he realized what he was looking at, he turned pale. This was something he had hidden in the attic a long time ago.
Liam notices suspicious dad
Liam squatted next to his father and tried to get a closer look at the object, but his father pushed him away. “Get inside,” James said. “Both of you!” Liam looked at his father and frowned. “What’s wrong, dad?” “Get away from here.
I don’t want you guys to see this.” James said. Why was he getting so annoyed all of a sudden? “Dad is clearly hiding something,” Liam said to his mom as they walked inside. She nodded and looked back over her shoulder.
Dad is hiding something
She had never seen James act like this before. This hornet’s situation was getting the best of him. She cracked the door open to spy on James as he picked up the object and couldn’t believe her eyes.
“That bastard.” Emma flung the door open and ran to her husband. “How could you do this to me, James? How could you lie like this?!” She yelled at her husband and grabbed the object out of his hands.
Lies from her husband
“I told you to get rid of this thing years ago!” Emma was still screaming. James grabbed it back out of her hands. “Look out, Emma. Be careful!” James looked next to him. There lay his childhood doll. Emma always hated this doll, but it had sentimental value to James. She was a little superstitious and felt the doll had negative energy around it. But James didn’t believe her and kept it in the attic.
James walked to his car and put it in the passenger seat. He stepped inside to grab some old towels and started his car.He drove away with a stern look on his face. How could he be so stupid? Why did he keep this thing even though he knew his wife disapproved?
Sentimental value
James looked next to him. There lay his childhood doll. Emma always hated this doll, but it had sentimental value to James. She was a little superstitious and felt the doll had negative energy around it.
But James didn’t believe her and kept it in the attic. But it was finally time to say goodbye. So James wrapped the doll in the towels and threw it away.
