Mont Saint Michel Abbey
This breathtaking shot of the famous Mont Saint Michel Abbey wrapped in morning fog was taken by Derek Baumgartner. This photo won the grand prize for the 2018 Skypixel contest – a well-deserved win.

The monastery has been around since the 10th century. During the Middle Ages, pilgrims from all over the world would come to pay their respects to Saint Michel. Today, monks and nuns from the Monastic Fraternities of Jerusalem run and live in the Abbey.
