Recently new board member Tesla boss Elon Musk has asked his followers in a Twitter poll whether they wanted the feature or not. In response, most of the followers expressed their opinions on the edit button. Twitter stated that it would start testing the feature in the next few months.

The communications team of this social media platform tweeted: “Now that everyone is asking… yes, we’ve been working on an edit feature since last year!” It also added, “No, we didn’t get the idea from a poll 😉. We’re kicking off testing within @TwitterBlue Labs in the coming months to learn what works, what doesn’t, and what’s possible.”

With this edit button, users will be able to fix any typos or errors in a tweet. This function can be performed without losing any replies, retweets, or likes it has already gained. The company’s vice president of consumer products Jay Sullivan said, “the most requested Twitter feature for many years”. He also said, “Without things like time limits, controls, and transparency about what has been edited, Edit could be misused to alter the record of the public conversation. Protecting the integrity of that public conversation is our top priority when we approach this work.”

It seems Elon Musk has already generated a huge influence over Twitter. It is assumed that he will give his followers the ability to choose what approach he takes.
