A cyber rapid-response team (CRRT) has announced that they are ready to help Ukraine from cyber-attacks. The team of experts expressed their interest to help the country after getting a call for help from Ukraine.
The team is consist of 12 experts from several countries such as Lithuania, Croatia, Poland, Estonia, Romania, and the Netherlands. The CRRT official said, “We can see that cyber-measures are an important part of Russia’s hybrid toolkit.” Earlier this month the UK and the US blamed Russia for cyber-attacks. It was thought that a small number of Ukrainian banking and government websites information were hacked temporarily at that time.
CRRTs are a European Union initiative that is working to enhance the cooperation between member states. CRRTs are a European Union initiative to deepen defense and cooperation between member states. The group of experts is equipped with commonly developed cyber-toolkits. They are highly capable to detect, recognize and mitigate cyber-threats. An official from CRRT said about the team. The statement expressed ” (the team) composed of different cyber-expertise, such as incident response, forensics, vulnerability assessment, to be able to react to a variety of scenarios.”
The Lithuanian Ministry of Defence shared a tweet. It stated, “In response to Ukraine request, [we] are activating [a] Lithuanian-led cyber rapid-response team, which will help Ukrainian institutions to cope with growing cyber-threats. #StandWithUkraine.” However, previously Russia has been accused of so-called combined cyber-attacks in Georgia and Crimea. They performed these cyber-attacks along with the traditional military activity.
