However, this worldwide auto show was no longer just about cars. Because the auto industry giants are now more interested to be about mobility in general, from bikes to e-scooters to cars. The auto show has previously shifted this year from Frankfurt to Munich. The main theme of the event was “Mobility of the Future”.

The president of industry association VDA, Hildegard Müller said, “Climate-friendly engines, the digital connectivity of transport – that’s what this fair is about,” He also said at a pre-event press conference, “The goal of climate protection is guiding us.”

But still, activists and environmental groups are claiming that automakers are dependent on fossil fuels. They are making the majority of their money by using this type of fuel which is responsible for global warming.

The transport expert for Greenpeace in Germany, Marion Tiemann said, “Adding ‘mobility’ to the event’s name and pushing their e-models to the fore won’t do the trick as long as they keep selling primarily gas-guzzling combustion engines.”
