“The Donald” Server Now Banned On Discord

Discord has officially had it. They announced over the week that they have banned a server called “The Donald” which is a pro-Trump community that is associated with the banned subreddit r/The_Donald and the TheDonald.win.

The ban was officially declared two days after a mob of pro-Trump protesters seized the US Capitol as encouraged by the soon-to-be ex-president. Although, Discord did not say that it has evidence that the server was used to organize the riots.

In a statement, Discord shared that they have “a zero-tolerance policy against hate and violence of any kind on the platform, or the use of Discord to support or organize around violent extremism.”

Reddit had previously banned a pro-Trump subreddit labelled r/The_Donald in June after expansion of its policies to ban any kind of hate speech to an explicit degree. Because of this, members of the disbanded subreddit have gathered in The Donald’s Discord server as detailed by a Mother Jones article last October.

Other unofficial accounts supporting Trump have also been banned “given repeated policy violations in recent days regarding the violence at the US Capitol.”
