This might be one of CES 2021’s biggest announcements however, it did not receive that much excitement from the attendees. One main reason why this could be is because of Nvidia’s debut of its RTX 3000-series graphics chips for laptops. However, in case somebody needs to hear it again, manufacturers are finally building fast-refreshing QHD screens into their gaming laptops.

What most people go for are the standalone QHD 1440p monitors, especially for perceptive gamers who use desktop computers. Why? Well, first of all, the displays are often cheaper and feature-packed compared to other 4K monitors in the market while looking nearly as good. Second and most importantly, QHD is such a suitable device to pair with modern high-end graphics cars such as the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT and the Nvidia RTX 3080.

It is still such as mystery as to why QHD was never an option for previous and more recent gaming laptops, even standalone display monitors. You only either had to choose a 1080p or 4K resolution device or choose to extend that to a 1440p monitor that you will have to buy separately.

2021 will be a game changer for the gaming and tech industry. It is not only the perfect time to introduce this advancement but because the likes of the RTX 3000-series and AMD’s upcoming RDNA 2 graphics chips will need that boost in the form of QHD.
