Four Tips To Ensure Good Dynamics With Your Coworkers

As soon as you step into the working world, your coworkers become your second family. If you think about it, you spend more time with them than you do your own family. With that being said, it is always good to maintain a good relationship with them and be conscious of how you treat them. Whatever you do at work impacts how they treat you so it is always best to avoid getting on their bad side as much as possible. Here are things to steer clear of.

Suck-Up

In the years of working experience, we all have had that one colleague that mimics and bootlicks the boss. You know how that went right? Try not to be that person just so you get on your boss’ good side. If you want to impress your boss, do it in a way that involves actual hard work but don’t overdo it. Your drive for recognition might just cause a rift between your colleagues.

Music And Eccentricities

In an office which involves a lot of collaborative work, music sometimes is a saving grace. But it doesn’t mean that you’re totally welcome to blast it to your heart’s desire as others may need to concentrate with far less music than you. This applies to other behaviors you may have such as keeping your shoes on, not chewing your food loudly when you eat or avoid smashing keys when you arrive at your desk.

Give Credit Where Credit Is Due

This is something you should remember where ever you go. Do not steal ideas from a colleague and make sure you recognize your coworker’s efforts whenever you can. This will show them that you value their output and so will your boss. The same goes for when somebody is late or if someone makes a mistake at work. Their affairs are not yours, so you can just let them be.

Keep Tidy Where Ever You Go

Even though you may have cleaners at the office who come in every few days, it is always best to clean as you go. Do not leave your mugs in the sink or wrappers and plastics on the counter. It’s perfectly okay when your desk becomes messy, just don’t leave it that way. The way you handle mess says a lot about yourself than you do your work ethics and don’t forget that the office is a common area after all.
